My name is Jennifer Tollefsrud, and for 8 years, I proudly served as a licensed massage and bodywork therapist in Clayton, North Carolina. During this time, I not only built but successfully sold a thriving medical massage business. My journey has been marked by resilience, passion, and a deep connection to the healing arts.

In 1984, at the age of 12, I faced a life-altering moment when I was hit by a car while crossing the street. Although I emerged without any broken bones, the impact left lasting damage to my muscles and nervous system, evolving into a daily struggle with dysfunction. This experience marked the beginning of my chronic pain journey.

In my 30s, autoimmune illnesses were finally diagnosed, shedding light on the intricate web of health issues I navigated. Allergy testing revealed positive reactions to every environmental allergen tested, even every type of tree in North Carolina. Multiple food allergies further complicated my health journey, emphasizing the critical role diet played in managing my conditions.

Life became a delicate balance, marked by progress and setbacks. Acceptance dawned as I recognized the uniqueness of my dietary needs, prompting meticulous research before trying any new product. High pollen times demanded caution, restricting my outdoor activities to prevent consequences like ear infections, bronchitis, or pneumonia. Wood fires triggered severe asthma reactions and hives, underscoring the need for mindfulness in every aspect of my life. There were no "cheat days" for me.

Yet, amidst these challenges, I found solace in crafting my own skin and hair care products. Passing on my allergies to my children fueled my determination to create products suitable for both them and me. What began as a personal quest evolved into The Sensitive Apothecary. This venture stands as a testament to my commitment to holistic well-being and a reflection of the sensitive apothecary within me.
